SheStrong is an Arizona Non-For Profit Corporation and a registered Triathlon team with USAT. Female cancer survivors and those in active treatment on Team SheStrong will be competing in the 70.3 Ironman in Cambridge Maryland on June 12, 2021. IM703Eagleman (ironman.com)
The team represents the strength and resiliency of female cancer patients. We are daughters, mothers, sisters, friends, wives, aunts, and neighbours that have received a cancer diagnosis. We are athletes and woman who want to empower our tribe, and not allow cancer to break us.
From the support and generosity of USAT, SheStrong has received a relief grant (https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Triathlon/News/Articles-and-Releases/2020/June/18/USA-Triathlon-Foundation-Announces-COVID-19-Relief-Fund-Grant-Recipients) to cover the cost of registration for select members who qualify. We are seeking additional sponsors to allow us the honor and privilege to expand our team and cover travel costs for our athletes who are traveling from abroad and out of state. Such as SheStrong’s very first member Canadian Laura Branson.
“Prior to my diagnosis I had competed in 7 marathons including 2 Boston marathons and was an Ironman competitor. When I joined SheStrong I found the positively of the group radiating. It was unlike any other cancer support group, as athletes are a different breed. We push through. Competing in a 70.3 again as a cancer survivor with my cancer sisters will be one of the most fulfilling endeavors of my life.” Laura Branson Stage 3 Breast Cancer Survivor.
Our call for support furthers our mandate of providing aid to those facing financial hardship due to a diagnosis, enabling cancer patients to regain their fitness through motivation, coaching, training, and racing. Our fundraising goal is $20,000 to help redefine survivorship through sport.
